Hard
by Criss Moody

Rating: G
Couple: Lindsey
Author's Notes: From Challege In A Can

-----

"And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, and it's a hard,
And it's a hard rain's gonna fall."

Dusky words collapsed over the room, breaking against the cheap plaster walls and the badly painted and even more badly reproduced wall paintings. Lindsey felt the careful thrum still humming in the guitar, the residual power of the song wanting to resume. Like it needed to get out and go and be free.

Lins tasted the harsh guttural hard on his tongue, rolling it like he would wine. He let his brain fall into an old habit of rhyming and comparing, crossing from word to word to syllable to vowel and back.

Hard. Heart. T. D. Ah. Hard.

Depends on how we see it. Not even language is sturdy enough to withstand test and trials.

"Oh, what did you see, my blue-eyed son?
Oh, what did you see, my darling young one?"
